Have you ever gone shopping for a coffee table? If so, have you ever found yourself asking, “How can they charge this much money for a simple coffee table?”
When you think about it, it’s kind of ridiculous how expensive such a simple piece of furniture can be. That’s what makes coffee tables a perfect target for DIY projects. By taking matters into your own hands, you can create something amazing on the cheap that’s also entirely unique.
In the following VIDEO, you’ll learn how to take some simple wood crates and turn them into a deliciously modern coffee table with ample storage. For your convenience, we’ve also put together a handy step-by-step guide, which you can read as you follow along. Oh, and our guide makes a really handy reference if you decide to try your hand at this project, too!
1. The Materials
For materials, you’re only going to need a few simple wooden boxes, which you can pick up at Home Depot, and one 2X4.
2. The Tools and Paint
Tools wise, you’re not going to need very much. Just make sure that you select a paint color that you’ll be happy with!
3. Sand ‘Em Down
Now, you’re not going to want harsh edges on your DIY coffee table; so take some sand paper and make sure those edges are rounded and smooth!
4. Measuring the 2X4
With the boxes taken care of, you’re going to measure out four equal parts of your 2X4 that correspond in length to your boxes.
